Making Recovery Happen
Through attending ‘Making Recovery Happen’ training I hope to achieve a greater understanding of my own mental health and my symptoms for example visual hallucinations. The training should also help me to gain a greater understanding of other mental health problems and diagnosis. This would allow me to have more empathy and understanding towards others.
In the past at times I tried to help motivate others who are struggling e.g. friends or relatives who are going through tough times. I feel the Parts of the training which would particularly interest me would be the motivating and listening skills as I think they would stand me in good stead for the future as in the past when family and friends came to me for help I feel I didn’t always help them out enough.
Using a reflective diary is a tool I have used in the past which was useful. However being trained in how to use this technique at Making Recovery Happen would allow me to help others. Talking of my own experience I found this very useful. In the past when writing a reflective diary I would show it to my care manager or psychiatrist. This would allow them to gain a better understanding of what goes on inside my head my thoughts and difficulties currently I write a day to lists which I find very helpful.
