PEER SUPPORT

“Peer Support Workers have brought hope, positivity and inspiration into what has been traditionally viewed as the world of ‘slow stream rehabilitation’ “Anne Poustie, Senior Charge Nurse.

Just one example of the professional opinions that reinforce Augment’s nationally recognised pioneering status as a proven center of excellence in the field of Peer Support. Augment leads in this area of service development as one of the only organisations that has trained Peer Support Workers who are now employed by Tayside NHS and our Chief Executive sits on the Professional Development Awards Panel for mental Health Peer Support SCQF Level 7. A pedigree that has seen our Augment trained Peer Support Workers and our Peer Outreach Volunteers successfully assist clients achieve well-managed goals on a continuous basis.

Let your Experts by Experience learn from our Experts by Experience. Peer Support training prepares candidates in all aspects of meaningful Peer Support. The course includes ethics and professionalism, counselling skills, WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Planning), personal safety, support and supervision and the Peer Approach - all delivered empathetically and professionally by our Peer Support Specialist.

Perhaps the best testament to our success comes straight from the horse’s mouth: Augment’s Annual Report 2008/09 cites a former client turned effective Peer Outreach Volunteer: “I know that I can recover because I know someone who has been there, done it and got the t-shirt-my Peer Support Worker.”
